On Tuesday the 29th of January Tullow Community School took on C.B.S in the Carlow/Kilkenny league cup Final In Burrin Celtic. It was a cold miserable day for a soccer match. It was wet and cold with a gailforce wind. Both teams started off slow with both midfields canceling each other out. Both defenses were proving to be strong with any ball that came in was cleared away. It was a sloppy game that took 20 minutes to get the first chance of the game which fell to Tullow but Mark Canavan just putting it wide of the keepers near post. The game started to come to life after the first chance with C.B.S getting a chance from outside the box but Adam Johson got down low to make a good save. It came to half time with both teams still level. At the start of the second half C.B.S started off the stronger team and the pressured payed off after a ball was crossed in from the right hand side and the C.B.S striker tapped the ball into an open net. Tullow’s heads dropped and C.B.S kept pushing on and they got a free kick after Cian Gorman gave away a free kick just outside of the box and picked up a yellow card. C.B.S took a brilliant free kick that the wind took into the top corner making it 2-0. Tullow lifted the heads and went more attacking with Mark Canavan creating some great chances down the right wing and keelan byrne also putting pressure on the C.B.S defense. Eventually all the pressure payed off with 5 minutes to go when Cian Doran cut inside the defender and got fouled inside the box. Cian took the penalty himself and scored it making it 2-1.
