We have two All Ireland medals coming to school tomorrow with a sliver in junior girls from Leila Colfer and a bronze in minor girls from Emily Lawlor. Winning your county is good winning Leinster is very good but winning an All Ireland medal doesn’t happen very often and these two girls deserve a massive round of applause.
Yesterday three of our students competed in the All Ireland schools combined athletics event having qualified from the Leinsters a few weeks ago. They traveled to Athlone to take part in a long day of events with each student having to do the
Long Jump
Shot Putt
800 meters
60 meter hurdles
200 meters sprint
There scores from all the events are added up and Reuben McCarthy came 7th in the boys while Emily Lawlor won bronze in the minor girls and Leila Colfer won silver in the junior girls.
So silver medal in Junior Girls with the top 4 go to Glasgow as an Irish team representing each of their schools, compete at International Schools, against, Wales, Scotland and England. Leila will be Heading off Friday 3rd of December, competition on Saturday 4th December.
The minor age group doesn’t go to international level.
